American cars have always had a huge following and a great fascination for car lovers all over the world..
By 1905, production of cars reached over 2400 with truck production reaching 750. The year 1910 saw a massive increase in production to approximately 180,000 cars and 6000 trucks.During 1914, production figures showed Ford to be way out on top by producing 308,000 cars!
The classic prestige cars were many and varied, the following marques being notable:-Auburn, Cadillac, Cord, Duesenberg, Lincoln, Marmon, Packard, Pierce-Arrow and Stutz.
Due to mass production, cars became affordable amongst the populous, which were supplied by large corporations, the names of which are well known around the world. Buick,Chevrolet, Chrysler, De Soto, Dodge, Ford, Hudson, Nash, Plymouth, Pontiac and Oldsmobile to name a selection all produced cars in their thousands over the many years. Some manufacturers have long gone including some of the above mentioned, but the American car continues to delight enthusiasts around the world.
